Some people come to me knowing exactly what they want but most ask for more of my input. Choosing the right material, wording and design of a memorial can be quite a daunting process.
After an initial chat about the person being remembered, I like to start with a drawing. This gives an opportunity to see ideas on paper and make any amendments. A visit to the workshop can be useful, it allows the client to see various types of stone and I am always happy to demonstrate carving a letter or two.
Once a design has been approved I will order the stone. After it has arrived at the workshop I mark out the inscription and any carving or details required. The client is given the opportunity to make any last adjustments before the carving begins.
On completion, the stone is fixed in place
